Gmail App gerät bei Active Sync Konten in eine Dauerschleife

Slice Die NGinx Einrichtung mit IMAP & POP3 & SMTP über extern hab ich noch nicht hin bekommen.

Nginx ist kann als Reverse Proxy vorrangig http und https. Für die anderen Protokolle eben NAT regeln auf der Firewall anlegen. Es bringt keinerlei Vorteil (und auch keinerlei Sicherheitsgewinn) diese Protokolle durch nginx zu schleifen, ausser man will load balancing machen.
Im Gegenteil es ist sogar kontraproduktiv weil dann Fail2ban nicht mehr funktioniert. Jede ankommende IP adresse von Extern schlägt dann als immer dieseble IP Adresse des Nginx servers am Mailcow auf.

Naja, im vorgelagerten NGinx hab ich noch Fail2Ban eingerichtet mit GeoIP Blocking usw. Da wäre es ja schön wenn das über den NGinx laufen würde.
Ich habe nur US wegen LetsEncrypt und DE als Zugriff freigeben, der Rest wird abgelehnt.

soviel ich weiss werden fail2ban und GeoIP blocking plugins im nginx nur für http(s) traffic unterstützt, bzw. erfordern viel(!) Konfigurationsarbeit. Weiss nicht ob das die Mühe wert ist wenn der SMTP port sowieso offen im internet hängt und mailcow auch fail2ban hat. Geoblocking mache ich eigentlich nicht, stattdessen verwende ich abuseipdb.
Meine User fliegen in der Welt umher, da müsste ich dauernd irgendwelche Länder aufmachen.

Genau für Https usw hab ich mir mal die Mühe gemacht und das mit dem passenden Modul kompiliert.
Im Log sehe ich schön die IPs mit Ort/Land usw und lehne alle Anfragen ausserhalb ab. LMAA.
Evtl muss ich auch den Weg gehen und die Ports direkt freigeben.

CardDAV und CalDAV mit der App “DAVx5”. Gibts im Play Store oder kostenlos im F-Droid Store.
IMAP und SMTP halt mit den üblichen Mail Apps wie Thunderbird, K9mail, FairEmail.

Du könntest noch versuchen eM Client oder BlueMail, die können auch ActiveSync.

I have no problem getting Contact sync to work, but DAVx5 doesn’t seem to sync my Calendars.. It can see them, but they don’t get synced 🙁..

Do you have Calendar sync working??

MrMEEE Yes Calendar works fine too. Make sure that you enable the calendar in your calendar app. DAVx5 just takes care that the events are synced into the android calendar database. So it can be used with any calendar app.

Hello - sorry switching in english - I have exactly the same problem on two different phones. It was working perfectly since now and same thing activesync syncing endlessly ….
I have the latest version of mailcow dockerized, emptyed the activesync cache. I am using the GMail app on android.
Any clue ?

esackbauer I tried Thunderbird with Davx5 and well, it appears it can’t properly digest a Calendar invite from my company (Gmail hosted). So that’s a non starter.
Have you had success with meeting invites from outside sources using something other then the Gmail app and EAS?

Yes, I understand, but Gmail is the default in Android, Outlook cannot be used. That would be really nice to have that sorted out …

You can write to Google about it 😉 Or you could configure Gmail with IMAP4.

esackbauer Actually even IMAP doesn’t seem to work any more in the gmail app. I tried to configure it using a NAT-Setup and gmail App failed to set up a connection to the Mailcow. Using a VPN and connecting to the internal IP of the Mailcow worked except for the certificate not beeing validated.

The Bluemail app is not having any problems with my setup either using EAS nor IMAP.
If SoGo goes with MAPI over HTTP that would be a good replacement for EAS in my eys.

Sorry, I am not exposing a mail server to the internet, I have a firewall in between, therefor no IMAP/POP3 accessible.
HTTP/HTTPS is through a WAF (Web Application Firewall)

Mailcow is made to be exposed on the internet. That is the whole point of running a mail server. Mailcow has fail2ban filter, ClamAV and Olefy and brings its own firewall rules via docker-iptables.
How do you receive mails then? SMTP port 25 is not open?
I have a Sophos Firewall which I use as WAF. It does also act as MTA and can filter IMAP ports.

The Sophos firewall is filtering at first raw the emails then forwarding it to the mailcow server. The less servers are exposed to the internet the less sproblems you have.

lthiry Sophos does also filtering the IMAP, so its not a problem.

For Calendar invites, I use FairEmail Pro version.
Or you try another app like eM Client or BlueMail which should work still with ActiveSync.

FYI eM Client does not work with ActiveSync (EAS), it’s using the Exchange Web Services (EWS) protocol which SoGo doesn’t support. BlueMail does support EAS though.

Yeah, found out the hard way. Currently using IMAP/SMTP and Davx5 for now. Hopefully Google fixes the app and can switch back to EAS at some point.
