Hi !
Using iOS or MacOS calendar I have the possibility to set the location of an appointment - when I use iCloud or outlook.com for example.
Since I switched it all to mailcow I cannot use this anymore.
I cannot search for any places or else …
Is this related to any provider (apple or Microsoft) databases in the background or am I somehow mistaken ?

Regards,
Martin

  • You are right. I just tested this with my work iPhone. If I select my work Exchange account’s calendar and start typing in the location field the location icon appears in the status bar and locations are suggested. However if I select my Sogo account’s calendar (also added via Exchange to my iPhone) the location icon disappears and therefore nothing near my location is suggested.

But I don’t think this has to do something with Sogo… I’m using Android on my private phone and with the Google calendar app it works. Maybe someone with Apple experience can bring some light into this

Ah okay, it’s indeed due to Sogo…

It seems that iOS enables this feature only when the server provides EAS protocol version 16.x

    Workaround is:
Connect via CalDAV/IMAP on iOS with SoGO, then location with maps works properly.

What kind of location do you mean? A meeting room? GPS coordinates? or just free text?
With Android it depends on the capability of your calendar app.

mfuchs Since I switched it all to mailcow I cannot use this anymore.

What do you mean exactly with “cannot use”? With which app? iOS calendar, or SOGo or Thunderbird?

      Have something to say?

Sorry for being unclear, I’m using the native app here.

Let’s say I want to make a new appointment, I could type the name of the location, restaurant or else and it would show me a list of locations matching my input.
It does not do with my mailcow account.

Must be then the native iOS app. With my android it is working.

So in your android calendar if you get recommendations and can select them ?
That’s the way it was with iOS, too.
Strange, I’ll have an eye on it

does anyone else have any experience with that on Apple or other devices ?

I saw this, too just a few minutes ago.

sadly until now SOGo does not support EAS v16.x whereas Z-Push does.
EAS ist designed for mobile usage, so it would be cool to use it …
but as a workaround in between …

      No one is typing
