I understand MailCow don’t recommend RHEL/CentOS 8 but why and what about AlmaLinux ?
Why such as, I don’t want to argue but simply to understand if it’s about the streaming and/or related to SELinux, …
Mainly because if it’s about how they change the philosophy of how they stream their package so I’ll go with AlmaLinux which is a good response to that issue.

Otherwise; which Linux the team would recommend to sit our MailCow ?
In the past I used PhotonOS which was great, what about RancherOS ?

Why using such non common Linux distros? Just use Ubuntu or Debian and all is good 😊

But than here why I was using PhotonOS and/or talking about RancherOS

Those are Linux designed for container and Docker is installed by default
So less update since they have the strict minimal
Also RancherOS is rolling version and support rolling back
While PhotonOS comes with a tighter security

AlmaLinux is a new comer but from an old team (CloudLinux Teams) they just decide to maintain their own distro.

But yes I ear and understand your point 😉

BTW: I asked because in the doc, it is not clear anymore since the note: We do not recommend CentOS 8 anymore.

LOL, maybe moving all those Debian and Ubuntu servers from init.d to System-D make me scared; I still have a few to do.

yep this is the beauty of Docker, adding a layer between services and server, but sadly all those old servers aren’t containers.

Old servers =NOT good and outdated, just update them 🙂 no fear 👍😂
