Hello, Today some updates were shown on github concerning XMPP. I have some questions about this: - What is XMPP/Jabber and why is it used? - Does it really belong on a mail server? - Do any new ports need to be opened in the firewall here? Thanks in advance.

XMPP is a InstantMessaging protocol based on xml. Mostly known for being fairly privacy friendly. What XMPP has to do with a Mailsystem is beyond me.

Yes I find that has also not really do to something on a mail-server, if it is optional and we can turn it off somehow that it at least consumes no resources, is a nice feature for others :) Maybe we use it some day, I hope one is still enlightened what it has to do with it and what must be reconfigured or changed.

I will wait until I can fully disable the xmpp server inside to upgrade my compose. I think that email is hard enough to maintain in a black box.

I would know how must i setup an Nginx reverse Proxy to try xmpp.

@"Lars"#p2773 XMPP does not need to be proxied through nginx. Just the HTTP Upload Component will be proxied. About the disabeling feature - it seems that the image checks if at least one domain has xmpp enabled. If that is not the case the image idles. Which isn't perfect but its something :D

Yes, i know that ejabberd is integrated, but there are many better XMMP servers and I’m not sure if it’s good to integrate such service into mailcow. If already, then rather than as application/plugin like SOGO.

I did already some small succesful tests with the new XMPP. I warmly welcome this addon, especially because I did some tests with my own Jitsi server over the last months and now, it seems I can have all that with a single click and some small edits. Thanks to the development team of MailCow!
So, I would like to make voice and video calls with ejabberd. According to https://www.process-one.net/blog/how-to-set-up-ejabberd-video-voice-calling/ that looks quite simple to activate. As I am not that familiar with docker, is there anything else to do, modifications to docker-compose.yml or mailcow.conf to get Video running?
