Hi everyone, I’m new to Mailcow, and I’m trying to set up an autoreply for the closure period via SoGo. I set it up on webmail, but it doesn’t work. What am I doing wrong? Thanks a lot.

How did you go about it?
Logged into your email inbox via SoGo, then click on the “Settings” gear.
Point “E-mail” -> Out of office notice.
“Activate automatic absence” -> define text and times.
Very important: check the box “Always send an absence message”.

Then it should work perfectly.

Thanks for the quick response, that’s exactly what I did. I also tried using different email addresses to test, but it doesn’t send the automatic message, but the read receipt does. I also tried setting up a single filter that replies to all messages, but that doesn’t work either. Regards

I think the Sieve filter function no longer works properly. I’ve already sunk my teeth into this and then given up without success.

What does a message from internally to the mailbox look like?
Is there an out-of-office reply?

When logging in to SoGo, does the letter icon at the top indicate “absence” when hovering with the mouse?

You all should know that Gmail is actively blocking OOO emails.

My guess would be that its a bounce mail, and that has to be set up properly, and the mailcow hostname needs a SPF record too:

Even on a porfect setup the majority of times OOO email is just getting blocked and with no bounce notification.

This is new to me personally now.
I only use OOO notifications when I’m on vacation. But then I can save myself that soon.
At least in the area of end customer contact.
In the B2B area, my notifications have always been delivered.

But I’m assuming that your email server is configured correctly and the required DKIM / SPF / DMARC entries are set?

This looks so good on you so far!
The OOO function is provided on the server side.
If you look in the logs the OOO message should be sent.

Is it transferred internally?
When you send an email to the internal account?

DKIM/SPF/DMARC are mandatory settings that you must make with your DNS provider.
You can see whether they are configured correctly on the admin interface -> Email -> Configuration.
