I am using mailcow + SOGo ActiveSync for years to sync mail, contacts and calendars across Android (native Exchange account) and the Linux desktop (GNOME + Evolution), including GNOME Calendar/Contacts integration and event notifications.
With SOGo 6 removing ActiveSync in favor of MAPI over HTTP, the long-term viability of this setup seems unclear:
- What practical alternatives exist for full PIM sync (mail, contacts, calendars, shared calendars) on Android and GNOME/Evolution once ActiveSync is gone? Is IMAP + CardDAV/CalDAV a viable replacement without loss of functionality?
- Which clients or sync tools are currently recommended on Android and on Linux desktop (Fedora with Gnome) for a good workflow?
- Will SOGo’s MAPI-over-HTTP realistically serve as a replacement for ActiveSync on Android and Linux+Gnome or should users plan for WebDAV-based setups?
Thanks for any insights.
