Webmail not functionnal on iOS safari

Hello.

I’ve noticed some UI bugs on SOGO on iOS safari.
When tapping the “new message” button, nothing happens.

I believe it’s an issue that’s been solved in sogo 5.12.1

Mailcow is currently using 5.12.0

Is there a way for us to manually update sogo ?
Or should we just wait for mailcow to update the bundled sogo version ?

Can’t they just use the iOS Mail app?

I mean, why would they want to go through the pain of using webmail. and SoGo specifically, on a phone, when they could use an actual email client?

It’s not pretty, means our iphone users cannot send email using the webmail.
In the meantime, as a workaround, we deployed a temporary webmail (totally outside of mailcow’s scope).

Sogo change log version 5.12.1 (2025-04-30) says
-ui: Change angular material to fix issues with Safari iOS 18+ (068f1f3)

I thought this was the culprit, but i couldn’t find anything about said issues.

So i’m might be wrong on that.

champix Exactly the same as mine. What I can’t see on the video due to the blur is: if you tap the new message button, two option buttons appear above it, one to write the mail inline and one to open a new tab. Those don’t appear for him or didn’t he recognize them maybe?

tbh i dont understand why you don’t encounter the issue. Maybe you have a custom user agent ? that would be wild

I think that’s not even possible with the locked down iOS Safari 😃

Did you try this with another iPhone? Or only with this user’s iPhone?

Only this case.

I cannot reproduce it either. I don’t have much apple hardware.
Only one I got is an old intel mac but that i dont think i can emulate modern iOS, its too weak.

I will have hands on the “faulty” iphone device this weekend, so i’ll try to dig further, but tbh i don’t know my way around apple devices, i know how to remote debug android chrome, but not iOS safari. I’m afraid the best I’ll be able to do is confirm that it is indeed not working, but that I pretty much already did.
