Please could you guys help me. I successfully configured the dockerized mailcow using the Ubuntu Liveserver running inside my Vmware (note: I have a static and dedicated external IP for my network). Each step was successful and I added my domain behind cloudflare, added the MX records correctly and also added the DKIM.
I configured the SoGO client and added my domain and I sent out an email which was successful. b
But
I cannot receive emails. When someone sends email to my email address it shows sent but after some days it bounces back with a error message from gmail.

So I telnet my Postfix from an external IP address and I got the following;

C:\Windows\System32>telnet 31.2..* 25
Connecting To 31...**…Could not open connection to the host, on port 25: Connect failed

Is the above error the reason why I can send emails to gmails but I cannot receive emails. Please help

(IP address redacted)

Thanks

Yes, even I can’t contact your server, I can ping so I would guess some firewall is blocking our communication.

Also you are missing PTR record for your IP, you need to fix this ASAP to run mailserver. Missing PTR is also reason why your IP is already on blacklist,…

EDIT: also take in consideration that it’s posiible this firewall is not yours but yours IPS,..

ETNyx please how about running the mailserver on 465 instead of port 25. The ISP wont open port 25 for me

        or what do you suggest

ETNyx the firewall is mine.. fortigate.. I wrote the rules and forwarded the ports.. including port 25.. all the other ports are working fine

Well those two lines ale contradicting, since you can not receive e-mail i would guess it’s ISP firewall and you can not change it,…

I would highly suggest to move your instance to proper hosting solution.

ETNyx Thanks for you help so far. So I contacted the ISP again and they claimed Port 25 is open for me. I went to a Port Checker and then typed in my external IP address 78...** Port 25 and still it was showing CLOSED. Mind you, I checked all other Ports with the same external IP address and it was OPEN.

I notified the ISP about this and the staff told me its a misconfiguration from my end. I dont know how that could be possible in this scenario because I forwarded all the ports on my router. Except maybe I’m suspecting I’m behind a CG-NAT from the ISP.
              Now I’m really confused.

Well if your ISP think it’s your fault than put another device between ISP and edge of your network by this you can test your setup if port 25 is opened or closed on outside your network bypassing IPS

Edit: sorry for mine english what i mean is this

MC <-> inner network <-> router <-> test device here <-> ISP

lumideez well I ditched my ISP and I got a VPS from Hostinger. I really hope port 25 will be opened there and I wont have same problems. I’ll keep you posted. Thank you so much

Not sure about this hoster, from what i know it’s usually to need contact your provider and ask for it (or click somewhere in admin), usually you will need to prove your self, usually by time test.

Yes, if you use a VPS with Hostinger, port 25 for outgoing connections is open. You will have full control over your hosting ports.

I just asked the chat bot 😃

ETNyx I ended up setting it up via Hostinger VPS.. its annoying my ISP refused to open the Port 25 despite paying for a Dedicated IP. Its working using the VPS now
