Exchange on Android 14 not working

Hey, everybody.
Has anyone had a problem with exchange/activesync and android 14 client (gmail app).
Email messages load after a long time, but calendar and contacts don’t work at all.
Is there any solution to this?

Have you checked the Dovecot and SOGo logs?
Does your installation meet the minimum requirements for ActiveSync? That needs a lot of RAM, and you need one SOGo worker thread per ActiveSync device.

Thanks for the response.

Yes, the server meets the minimum requirements without a doubt.

No error is visible in the log. I run a sync for example only calendar and I see the connection to sogo and nginx.

The change for me came with the new phone with Android 14, before with Android 13 everything worked properly.

I turn on the old phone to go through to see if the log is the same.

I have mailcow behind a web application firewall (Sophos Firewall). After some log sniffing and whitelisting SNORT rules it is working.

Personally I would rather use FairEmail (IMAP) and DAVx5 (CalDAV/CardDAV) instead of using Gmail, and having them still analyze my mails…
I use a different app (Nine from 9folders) since years, which is connecting without problems since my last 3 Android phones.

So I tried everything on the previous device.
The sync was ok on the existing account and the log on mailcow was the same. So I deleted the exchange account and recreated it. :-)
I can rename the thread now - it’s not Android 14’s fault.
Clean complete sync doesn’t work for me on the previous device either.

I’ve been using davx since yesterday :-D but I prefer activesync for its simplicity (I’m not the only user and don’t want to set it up for each user separately).

Please try again with BlueMail, this app is for free available on Play Store, and reportedly ActiveSync works well with it.

So on the first try, Bluemail synced my emails and calendar, but not my contacts.
On the second try, email blank, calendar too.
Third try, mails and calendar is ok.

So if Bluemail has problems too, I would take a step back and check your system, as @esackbauer already mentioned. What are your server’s specs?

OK, you’ve got 2 cores more than me and the same RAM size, that should be sufficient. My mailcow serves ~ 20 ActiveSync devices without a problem

I’m having no luck with any email apps and EAS. Domain is properly setup.

Works fine on iphone, but not on android 14.

That could be virtually anything. Too low system ressources, too few SOGo worker threads, reverse proxy misconfiguration.
Check the log files, ideally on both the client and on the server.

I can tell you it works fine on both my Android 14 phones, with the Nine App.
