Hi, I'm trying to move my maildir as per this: https://docs.mailcow.email/de/manual-guides/Dovecot/u_e-dovecot-vmail-volume/ I have created a new folder (on a separate drive), copied over the contents of my existing maildir, stopped mailcow, created the override.yml file with the new folder, removed the old maildir and started mailcow again. It all worked apparently, but now all my emails are gone (both in my desktop mail client and in Sogo). Do I need to do anything else (like reindex or something)? Thanks!

After restarting mailcow everything was there, except my sent messages. My inbox is there, all my custom folders to sort received message. But my Sent folder is empty.

Where might they be?

I’m really missing them.
For a while I was hoping they might come back (i.e. some syncing). But now I think that they are not coming back…

Has anyone experienced that before, or knows what to do to bring them back?

No, I have no idea why only that folder is affected.
This is why I have backups of mailcow…

Of course I have a backup. But extracting the mails from there and importing them back into mailcow is going to be a hassle that I would like to avoid, if they are still somewhere inside mailcow.

Have you checked the vmail directories? There is somewhere under your accountname in Maildir/.Sent directory where all the mail files for that folder should be. If they are there, check if they have the same permissions and owner set as the other folders.

BTW did you use the “old way” or the “new way” to move?

I used the “old way”.

My sent mails still seem to be there. At least there are many many more in the Maildir/.Sent folder under my account than are shown in any mail client. And the dates of the entries go back to the early 2000s. That seems about right.

The owner of all the emails and folders is 5000:5000 which is the same as for all the other folders and mails.

That is quite reassuring. It just begs the question: Why can’t I see them in any mail client?
