I’m using the official documentation, for what I hope to be a production instance, but I have tried it 2-3 times with no complete success. I am using a domain.xyz through cloudflare, with an A record in the DNS settings that is directed towards my public IP. However, when I go to replace ${DBNAME}, ${DBUSER}, ${MAILCOW_HOSTNAME}, ETC with the information applicable to me I either can’t get the instance to pass the initial loading screen or I get a partial running instance that won’t pass Google’s security check and i’m not passing the test when I try the reverse IP look up with dig in the cli. What should I be doing differently?

Why would you replace the DB variables? A little more info about the steps you performed would be very helpful

DocFraggle I’m an idiot and didn’t realize what those variables were defining. It wasn’t until way later that it actually clicked with me what they were doing. So at this point I have that part fixed. But I have very little knowledge of DNS settings with a FQDN and I’m not exactly sure how to get those set up right so when I try and send a test e-mail to my wife’s email, it doesn’t get rejected.

DocFraggle I changed them because I wasn’t sure what I was doing at first and had never really dealt much in the near past about variables like that so I was a total idiot. Now that I know what I am supposed to do correctly I change the settings in the .env file.

I don’t get it why people don’t write more details. So far I just can say they probably are not meeting the prerequisites or have changed something they shouldnt change.
