Hello Mailcow Community,
I’ve moved to mailcow from an existing mail provider, where I could configure an email address (as an admin, not as a user) to be both: a mailbox and also have (multiple) redirects at the same time.
Now, mailcow will only let me use an address either as an Alias OR a Mailbox.
So in mailcow, I have to model this a little differently: The E-Mail address will be created as an alias and can then be forwarded to a mailbox AND a number of other recipients.
-> I don’t like this approach, because the name of the mailbox is different from the actual e-mail address. This is very hard to explain to my users.
So instead, I’ve just created the e-mail address as a mailbox, and then added a “recipient map”, so every incoming mail will also be forwarded to one other address.
-> I don’t like this approach, because the address rewrite can only contain ONE mail address. So now I need to create another alias if I have more than one redirect recipient.
-> I don’t like this approach, because this does not work for aliases which are pointing to this email – because address rewriting only works for actual recipients, not for forwarded mails.
So what am I missing here? How can I best achieve the following things:
- admin configurable (don’t want to do this in SOGo)
- forwarding TO multiple other/external addresses aside from the original recipient
- at the same time the address is a proper inbox (with the same username as the actual addresses)
- also works for aliases pointing to this email address
