Google 550-5.7.26 bounce back error / SPF Record is fine

Hi everyone,

I’m absolutely new to Mailcow and so far, it has been a superb experience. However, the Postfix logs sometimes indicate bounced email from Gmail with the following:

550-5.7.26 The MAIL FROM domain [home.social] has an SPF record with a hard fail 550-5.7.26 policy (-all) but it fails to pass SPF checks with the ip: 550-5.7.26 [5.9.11.94]

I don’t understand this. Here is my SPF record on smtp.home.social:
v=spf1 ip4:5.9.11.94 ip4:142.132.218.235 ip6:2a01:4f8:160:8149::2 mx a -all
What am I doing wrong? Does it have to be on the main domain (home.social)?

If you’re sending emails with user@home.social, the SPF record must be on home.social, yes. So it looks like your SPF record is set wrong then.

pkernstock And it should have the IP of smtp.home.social or home.social?

pkernstock Thanks. Could it be a problem that MX records on home.social point elsewhere since I only use smtp.home.social for SENDING mails.
