I concur with AwesomeGeorge, the inability to login/send as bob.smith@smith.com when the email is bobs@smith.com is a issue my customer is not happy with.
In my old postfix solution (albeit from 10 years ago) you had users called bobs in /home/ dir and you mapped them to accounts and made numerous /etc/alias names I have done the same in the new system, mailcow has users called bobs@ and aliases of bob.smith@ but you cannot login as bob.smith@ (which I would expect an alias to be able to do) therefore in outlook mail clients you cannot send as bob.smith@ - you can only ask them to reply-to “bob.smith@” which isn’t the same instead it is always “Bob Smith <bobs@smith.com>
” when normally we’d like to be “Bob Smith <bob.smith@smith.com>
”
Note: we’ve checked “allow to send as bobs@ bob.smith@” in the user under
Allow to send as
bobs@ bob.smith@"
If mailbox user A is allowed to send as mailbox user B, the sender address is not automatically displayed as selectable “from” field in SOGo.
Mailbox user B needs to create a delegation in SOGo to allow mailbox user A to select their address as sender. To delegate a mailbox in SOGo, use the menu (three dots) to the right of your mailbox name in the upper left while in mail view. This behaviour does not apply to alias addresses.
