So, I’ve searched the docs and forum postings on this - but need some more info.
When the user hits the ratelimit for the domain or user (user rate limit takes priority over any domain ratelimit) they’ll get a 4xx (essentially a deferral) of the message.
But is that a PER MESSAGE ratelimit or PRE RECEIPIENT limit? I assume it’s per message, but wanting to confirm.
On that note, what’s the set postfix limit of recipients per message? (It looks like the default of 1000, but not sure.)
Perhaps I should note what I’m worried about, or trying to accomplish.
I want warning when an account starts getting used for spam. On CPanel you can set limits at which point you’ll get a warning. I’d honestly prefer a “soft” warning rate-limit that gets delivered to a sysadmin to address.
Then, perhaps a “hard” rate-limit that’s quite a lot higher that will stop such an event if not addressed by the sysop.
So, is there some way I can accomplish a warning limit after so many recipients? (Using the number of messages isn’t very effective, because spammers will simply test how many recipients you allow and each message with 100 or whatever the maximum is. So, 100 messages * 100 recipients is 10K messages - and way more likely to land you on a black-list.
Finally, what’s the best way to pose these questions? Is telegram a better place - often messages here take a long time to get any response, and perhaps it’s less frequented, etc. (And it seems like a lousy thing to open tickets for…)
