.cache folder with huge size

Hello guys, I noticed that the .cache folder is taking up 565 GB on my server. Is there any way I can reduce the size?
Can I delete what’s inside that folder?

Which .cache folder? Please specify the exact path in your filesystem

I’ve done that command and that’s what I see

well you need to explore what’s inside,… MC should not save cache in /root,.. what could be is some kind of backup, are you using some? Borg? Duplicity? Restic?

I use restic on other mail server but I don’t have such folder

than restic cache --cleanup should remove old and unsued cache rigth? check their docs please,…

Edit: maybe update retention to keep it smaller? restic forget --keep-daily 7 --keep-weekly 4 --keep-monthly 6 --prune

I’ve got a script with that line inside (and that’s the same of another server)
restic forget --verbose --prune --keep-hourly 30 --keep-daily 30 --keep-weekly 8 --keep-monthly 6
I’ve tried with restic cache --cleanup and I get > no old cache dirs found
I think I can manually delete that folder, am I right?

If rm -rf is ok, I really do not know sorry,.. But my guess is, if you do not change your retention you will bloat once again.

Thanks mate.
Doing deep search + AI help, it seems that the problem is related to an old restic restore that had created lots of cache that is un-necesssary right now 😉
