I’m running dockerized-mailcow 2026-07 on a debian VM

I used IMAPSYNC to migrate 3Gb of emails from an Exchange 2016 mailbox to a mailcow mailbox.

So far so good.

In SoGo and emClient I can see all the folders and all the emails going back in time.

However I added the mailcow mailbox to outlook as an activesync connection and its partly working.
The INBOX is seeing new emails and existing emails. I can send and receive and the INBOX matches emClient and SoGo.

I can create a folder in outlook, emClient, and SoGo and it works fine.

However the folders I migrated which work fine in SoGo and emClient I can only see the folder structure in outlook. Each folder and subfolder says empty.

I checked the outlook sync was set to ALL
I did a reset activesync device cache
I tried a doveadm force-resync and index on the mailbox
I tried deleting the outlook profile and creating a new one

Nothing note worthy in the SoGo, Nginx or Dovecot container logs.

Anything else I can try?

There are known problems with SOGo’s ActiveSync implementation (which is not official, but reengineered) and Outlook. It depends on the version of Outlook its a game of luck.
Here in the forum there is a lengthy thread discussing it.
I gave up on ActiveSync for Outlook, I use IMAP and CalDavSynchronizer, or Thunderbird. With SOGo 6 there will be a native MAPI integration, then hopefully Outlook is working properly again with mailcow. It was promised for end of this year.
But then, isnt the goal of mailcow getting rid of microsoft? 😄
