Default sogo mail account language is not honored

Hi there, I’m currently having an issue with accounts default language (at creation time).

Even if I have the mailcow admin UI in Spanish language, the newly created accounts are in English, the default webmail language for the user as well, and it gets the initial emails in English too: The “Personal Calendar” folder has been created.

How can I set the default language for mailcow?
Or.. How can I set the default language for the new accounts?

These are the possible languages supported by SOGo: https://www.sogo.nu/files/docs/SOGoInstallationGuide.html (look for SOGoLanguage parameter)

My mailcow dockerized version is: 2026-01, SOGo version: 5.12.4

That is strange, it should get the language from the browser. So either you have your browser configured to prefer english or you are using a privacy plugin in you browser that “hides” the language to SOGo.

Example: in my sogo.conf is the default setting of english. However if I visit it with my browser which prefers German, I will get everything in German, even the initial mails.

Well yes, my laptop and browser are both in English, but I really need the mailboxes to be created in Spanish (product and client only speak Spanish).

Is it not possible to “force” the language of mailcow / SOGo?

Just have the users log on the first time with their spanish browser.
Why do you need to log in as the user anyway?
