I’m a bit confused about how the “Default Mailbox Size” (DefaultQuota) in the Domain Settings is supposed to work.
In my setup, the value configured as Default Mailbox Size on the domain level is never applied when I create a new mailbox. Instead, the quota that gets applied always comes from the Mailbox Template I select during mailbox creation.
To be more precise:
- If I create a new mailbox and choose a mailbox template, the quota from the template is applied correctly.
- The domain-level Default Mailbox Size is ignored, regardless of what I set there.
- Templates themselves can have a quota of 0 (unlimited) or a specific size (e.g. 22 GB), and that value is applied as expected — but the domain default never seems to have any effect.
My questions are:
- How is the “Default Mailbox Size” in the domain settings intended to work?
- Under which conditions should this domain default actually be used?
- Is it expected that mailbox templates always override the domain default, or is this maybe a bug or a configuration issue on my side?
