I have several very old email accounts and domains here that are currently being heavily targeted by spammers. The Mailcow server blocks almost everything very effectively, but I would like to reduce its workload.

Does anyone here use Proxmox Mail Gateway? And would they perhaps like to share their experiences?

Is it really that high, the workload? CPU wise?
I am using Sophos Firewall which acts as MTA with antispam/antivirus, which does the first line of defense for me.

I use proxmox, but not the mail gateway. That said, if you are having workload problems there’s probably other routes you can go before you get so deep as changing the tech stack. Have you given consideration to feeding something like Spamhaus’s lists into the servers IP blocklist?
