Mailcow / SOGO not showing iPhone attachments

I have also posted this on the SOGO community. I have verified that iPhone attachments do not show up in email to the Mailcow/SOGO server.

When users open a photo, then use the iPhone feature to email the photo - nothing shows up in email. If the user opens an email app, then attaches the photo as a file, the attachment shows up correctly.

Have you tried changing from ActiveSync to IMAP or vice versa?

I think this is a iPhone Feature. I do the same with a Android Device, no Problems

I can confirm this problem.

It’s a combination of the way Apple Mail sometimes embeds photos instead of attaching it to the email and SOGo seemingly not being able to display images embedded this way. Most other mail clients can show the embedded images just fine.

Apple probably won’t change this behavior, so your best bet is to file a SOGo bug report.

We are running ActiveSync. We previously tried IMAP. The issue appears to be SOGO. Others online have reported that the issue does not happen with Roundcube.

Mediator asked me to post a conclusion. So far, nothing has resolved this issue. It persists.

You should already think about what comes after ActiveSync. According to the Devs, ActiveSync will be no longer part of SOGo somewhere in 2026, and Roundcube does not offer ActiveSync at all.

So what will happen to calendar sync across multiple devices? Doesn’t really work in IMAP.

That is handled by CalDAV and CardDAV for contacts.
