Borg Backup Problem

Hi, I have a problem with Borgbackup. After initialization with “docker compose exec borgmatic-mailcow borgmatic init –encryption repokey-blake2,” I get an error. The SSH key has been confirmed.

By the way, there is an error in the instructions, or rather, the “source” is missing when creating the second file with cat.

Does Borg create the paths itself, or do I have to create them myself with another backup?

So Borg is running on the mailcow server. I can’t imagine that it’s also necessary on the remote client – or is that actually the case?

Yes, Borg must be available on the backup target.

Does Borg create the paths itself, or do I have to create them myself with another backup?

I’m not sure if I get your question right, but those paths are created by Docker via the volumes defined in your docker-compose.override.yml.

If the target Server is a well installed Borg Backup Server all Path on the Server are created by Borg

Ok, my Target is a Storagebox from Hetzner and i make hourly Borg Backup. Works perfect.

After I had borg on the remote, the manual run went through without any obvious errors. Some data is now also visible on the target. But there is still too little data. My guess is that I need to adjust the paths in the configuration (/mnt/source) – or is that only used internally?

If you follow the docs https://docs.mailcow.email/third_party/borgmatic/third_party-borgmatic/ exactly you don’t have to change anything except target host, credentials etc.
