Suggestions for Android Contact App

Hello,

I am using the latest mailcow (2025-05 Release: 13th May 2025) and it ships with SOGo 5.12.0

The SOGo contact/addressbook module allows to associate a category to a contact, which is nice. However I seem to not find a FOSS Android app that supports this metadata. I’ve tried Fossify Contacts and LineageOS Contacts. Both they don’t support this piece of metadata, therefore when I edit a contact from the Android device, the category is erased after the sync with the server.

Has anyone suggestions about an App that supports the contact “category”?

D4niel wow you pointed me to the right direction.

I am already using DAVx5 (forgot to mention) and I thought “what does it have to do with my question? it’s a client App issue”.

Well, turns out that deep in the DAVx5 CardDAV settings, there’s a flag to use Categories to group contacts. After enabling that flag, now the sync does not delete the contact category.
