No email appearing in Outlook app on Android

Hi All,

On a learning experience, hoping someone can assist.

I have just installed Dockized Mailcow on Ubuntu 24.04 and configured.
Setup one email domain and one email account. Emails are flowing in/out bound
Email can be seen in Webmail and I have successfully setup said mailbox in Outlook for Office which also sends and receives email.

The issue is this.
Although I can setup the mailbox on Android in Outlook app via EAS I dont see any email.
Sending emails from Outlook app say they are sent but “Just disappear” never to arrive 🙁

Is EAS on Android broken, never to be fixed, as per

Microsoft removed the plain auth options in their Apps (Outlook Mobile App and new Outlook App on PC) which did not allow mailcow/SOGo to authenticate against.

I havent had chance to try configuring Android to use IMAP yet

Are there any logs in postfix that sending was attempted?

Also, note, that using Outlook on Android will save your mail account credentials as well all your emails on Microsoft’s cloud. I’d say destroying the real advantage of mailcow in its entirety. You then could also just Outlook’s mail service.

I am learning so which which mail app would you suggest for Android.

I will have to check the logs when I spin up Mailcow later.

Personally I’m using AquaMail. Others might suggest K9, FreeMail or similar. Not an expert really in terms of email clients on Android though.

If it has to be ActiveSync I would recommend BlueMail
For IMAP I would recommend Thunderbird or FairEmail.
For CalDAV and CardDAV sync of contacts and calendars its DavX5.

I am super happy using FairEmail on Android and Thunderbird / Betterbird on desktop. If you don’t like Play Store, you can get FairEmail in F-Droid too ;-)
