Hello,

After some research, I could not find a definitive resource about migrating an existing mail system to Mailcow.

Specifically I am wondering about the Postfix migration. Currently I have about 40 mailboxes on a mail server running Postfix, Dovecot and MySql.
I would like to be able to switch the DNS of this server to the newly installed Mailcow server so that the users do not have to change their configurations during the migration.

What do I have to do in order to achieve a transparent migration ?

Is there a way to provide all the existing user accounts and data to Mailcow ?

I am aware of the Sync job migration. But I understand I would need to re-create all the user accounts manually. I could do that, but I don’t have the passwords of the users (and don’t want to have them) in order to setup the Sync job.

But I am root on the old mail server and can access vmails, database … so if I know where to put that data then I could do the migration.

Any hint is welcome.
