mail kernel: Invalid ELF header magic: != ^?ELF On New Ubuntu Install

Hey All -

As far as I know, I’m following the new install recommendations. I’m using Ubuntu

I keep getting this message on the console:
mail kernel: Invalid ELF header magic: != ^?ELF

I ran a lsb_release -a to get version information, and this was the response:

root@mail:/home/user# lsb_release -a
No LSB modules are available.
Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description:    Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS
Release:        24.04
Codename:       noble

I’m also running 2025-02 of mailcow.
The only other application on the server that did not come preinstalled is speedtest-cli, removing that didn’t change anything though.

As far as I can tell it’s working, and restarting docker generates the error again so it’s definately related to mailcow vs. some other application.

Did you somehow install the 32 bit release?

uname-m shows I’m running the 64 bit version of Ubuntu

Thanks - I looked at them (not closely enough apparently) and disregarded when I saw Arch Linux refereced as I’m using Ubuntu.

I’ll give the insmod commands a try to see if that fixes it.

So this is a common error then? I would have thought there would have been more posts about it.
