  • Domain with cloudpanel + wordpress and separate server for email setup

Hi everyone

I need a little guidance, even writing this I feel lost.

I’ve been looking at Mailcow for a little while now as I was getting fed up with my reseller hosting account and Google upping their prices. I’ve decided to host my own websites using Hetzner and control my email using Mailcow.

I want to eventually have 3 or 4 of my website (currently on my reseller account) moved across to Hetzner and using Mailcow to send and receive email.

I’ve currently got two Hertzner Servers with two separate IP addresses (port 25 is open), I read somewhere that I need to keep my domain and email separate so I created the two servers.

I’ve installed CyperPanel and Wordpress on one to host my website and I’ve installed Mailcow on another to host my email.

I’m not sure If I have done this correctly as I’ve not tested the email side yet, I’ve logged in for the first time but that is as far as I have got but the installation went smooth enough.

I have a few questions I’m hoping you can help me with.

How do I set up my wordpress website to use Mailcow?

Can I have multiple domains use Mailcow so I don’t have to pay for multiple servers?

Thanks

You probably mean your web hosting and e-mail. That is correct. Both are using “domains”, that means DNS records.
You seem to lack a lot of basic understanding how services on the internet work.
But nevertheless I think to have them separate is good.

Wordpress can use mailcow if you select your mailcow IP as SMTP server.

And yes, you can host multiple domains for Mailcow. But be sure that you read everything on the DNS prerequisite pages and also follow the links under “references” that explain in more depth.
