Ckruijntjens Hi all, I have a issue with emails arriving to my mailbox. They are all marked as read after a couple of minutes. What could be the problem of this?
heavygale Have you possibly set up a mail client to retrieve the mails via POP3? Dovecot’s default behaviour is to mark mails as read when retrieving them with POP3 in IMAP. https://doc.dovecot.org/configuration_manual/protocols/pop3_server/#flag-changes

Ckruijntjens heavygale it only seems to happen to one account. i allredeay delete the account and recreated and restore the mails agenda and contacts. still the same issue with this one account? how can we troubleshoot this?
TheNomad11 heavygale Thanks so much! Problem solved. This was the case with my issue. To solve it I created an extra file as described here https://docs.mailcow.email/manual-guides/Dovecot/u_e-dovecot-extra_conf/ called extra.conf and added pop3_no_flag_updates=yes as described in your link https://doc.dovecot.org/configuration_manual/protocols/pop3_server/#flag-changes , then docker compose restart dovecot-mailcow and now the issue is solved
Ckruijntjens even when i delete this account and recreate it with the same name and dont restore anything i have the same problem. other accounts dont i dont understand. how can i fully delete an account. no restovers in mailcow
heavygale Change the password, so that no client can connect to this mailbox, then check in SoGO if the mails still get marked as read. (I still believe it’s a client, which marks the mails as read.)
Ckruijntjens heavygale Hi, I forgot to reply. Allredeay dit That and it was a progam that i installed that was polling the inbox. Issue is revolved.
