Sogo recently marking all mails as important

Hi,
Recently SoGo started marking all received emails as Important. I have not changed any settings, but have updated Mailcow regularly.

Has anyone else seen this behaviour?

Can you share a screenshot? Is this happening only within SOGo interface or via a 3rd party email client?

I wonder if you have a filter set within your account?

Preferences (gear icon) -> Mail -> Filters (tab)

I have the same problem. It started happening ca. 2 weeks ago and I can see the label in SoGo and Gnome’s Evolution. Evolution colors all emails with the important label in red, so now I’m looking at a wall of red emails which is quite annoying.

Any idea how I can figure out whether this is an email client on one of my devices going rogue or something misbehaving in mailcow? Maybe there is a log where I can see which login session added the label?

I don’t think there are logs for that. You could just shut down or disconnect all devices with mail clients and send a test message to yourself and check it in SOGo.

Same thing here for one sender.

Same for me, very annoying… I thought it might be because of a IMAP client but i’s not. Nothing relevant in the logs…

I have the same issue with one of my mailboxes. Anyone found a solution for that?

For me it disappeared a few weeks after my post, I don’t know why, doesn’t seem to be because of an upgrade of Mailcow…

I found the solution!

I have installed nextcloud on top of my mailcow and there is a setting in the Nextcloud Email App “Automatically classify importance of new email” or in german “Automatische Einordnung der Wichtigkeit einer neuen Email” which set’s the imap flag “$label1” which means important in sogo and thunderbird.

In case others find this post, the settings in Nextcloud:

I don’t have Nextcloud on top of Mailcow but I use Nextcloud to fetch email from Mailcow, so I suppose that was the reason for classifying emails as important.
