Is there a way to configure a sync job for an account that uses two-factor authentication, without using an app password?
I have a Microsoft 365 account that I am currently syncing via IMAP to create a backup copy of the messages in this account on my Mailcow server. The organization will be increasing their security settings to force the use of Microsoft “modern” authentication and two factor authentication. They also do not allow app passwords to be created.
When I connect other IMAP clients like Thunderbird, they redirect me to the Microsoft login page to enter my credentials and 2FA. I assume this is the modern authentication (OAuth2) working?
Since the Mailcow sync job just uses my normal password, I believe this will stop working when the modern authentication and/or 2FA is enforced. Without an app password, is there any way I’ll be able to get my sync job to work?
Thank you for any advice you can offer!
