Hello,

I’m trying to configure my Canon MFC733 to work with mailcow, however I can’t get it to connect properly.

I have SMTP all setup the same as every other account, however the printer fails to send. I have the correct server, username and passwords. The Postfix log states:

NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from unknown[192.168.1.96]: 554 5.7.1 email@live.com: Relay access denied; from=canonprinter@domain.tld to=email@live.com proto=ESMTP helo=<Canone5c105.domain.tld>

Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

  • Well, I found the solution.
There is a separate setting for ports on a whole different page. The default port is set to 25 which wouldn’t work. Changed to 587.

    Settings for Canon MF733CDW
Network Settings > Port Number Settings > SMTP

Have you configured your printer to send mails with an existing account on mailcow? For example: is canon@domain.tld a real mailbox in mailcow?

Also check if you have set smtp authentication within the printer correctly. The printer must send mails with an existing account & password.

    Have something to say?

Yes, I have checked this numerous times to confirm it is correct.

Are you sure about the from: address? It reads as you’re trying to send from a different address (email@live.com)

I’m back messing with this. I’ve had to put it on hold for a while.

Here are my settings for the printer:
