Hi
I’ve been running a mailserver for a good amount of time, but decided to give Mailcow a try - primary cause I moved all mail-related things, to a dedicated server, instead of a mix between webhosting, email and more.
I’ll use example.com
as the domain, in the following question.
My new mailserver has the hostname mail.example.com
set, so I would like to create a postmaster@mail.example.com
, but it’s not allowed to use the hostname as a email-domain.
I totally get that, but how do I secure to have a “postmaster” and "noreply-dmarc` alias. Are the trick to create another mail-domain, and create a alias for postmaster@ and noreply-dmarc@, and point that, to another user?
I’ve tried to search a bit, but didn’t find the proper answer.
The docs > Installation ends with Remember to create an alias or a mailbox for postmaster.
, but I would like to know how that part are handled the best way.
TL;DR: New mailcow-instance created. I would like to create postmaster@{{HOSTNAME}}
, but it’s not possible to create the hostname as a mail-domain. So, how’s that part handled the best, so I can get my postmaster-email created/aliased?
I hope someone are able to give me a guidance.
